Paul Young of MAP Embassy Racing broke his arm in morning practice forcing him out of todays race at the Kent circuit of Brands Hatch. Young highsided coming out of Graham Hill Bend and immediately as he rose to his feet, it was clear he was badly injuried. The Barlestone rider currently sits ninth within the championship, which look to be safe unless tenth place rider Rob Frost obtains a podium. In addition to the days events Howie Mainwaring has a suspected broken leg following an incident on the starting grid in the first race of the day.
As the green lights went out for the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship the Lenzkes Racing rider looked to have stalled on th grid, putting him in the way of another rider who hit him from behind, red flagging the race. As Mainwaring was clipped and fell to the floor, his Suzuki 1000 slammed onto his left leg. The Frodsham rider forcably kicked the bike off with his right leg and tried to walk, but again it was clear that he was seriously hurt as he lay waiting for medical attention.
