Danny Buchan left Brands Hatch on Sunday evening with mixed feelings, the Synetiq BMW rider leading races but ultimately ending without even a podium finish to his name and with a trio of fourth place finishes instead.

Nevertheless, the results consolidated his top four position in the Championship standings and more than confirmed his status as a title contender this season.
 
“It’s definitely been a bitter-sweet feeling as although three fourth place finishes are good and show our consistency, it could quite easily have been three podiums as we were more than close in all three races," he said
 
“It’s a strong haul of points though and obviously good to consolidate our position in the points standings. It’s what we need as I’m in it for the long haul and am looking at the big picture and the Championship come the end of the season.”
 
With Buchan new to the team and the all-new M1000RR, there’s been a lot of changes for the Essex rider but he’s finished in the top four at each of the three rounds to take place so far – at three very different circuits – and he’s pleased with his progress as he now looks to keep the momentum going and challenge for race wins at every round.
 
“The M1000RR is new to every track and each one presents a different challenge so it was good to come here to the GP circuit, a fast circuit, and show we could run at the front here as strongly as what we did at Knockhill. We’ve been as quick as all the competition and that bodes well for the rest of the season.”
 
“Thruxton is another new track for the bike so we won’t know until we get there how it will go and I’m keeping an open mind – but I’ll be giving it my all and more than hopeful we’ll be at the sharp end again.”
