BRANDS BSB: BYRNE EDGES OUT HASLAM IN FIRST PRACTICE

Shane Byrne has picked up from exactly where he left of at Brands Hatch in April, edging out Leon Haslam at the top of this morning's British Superbike first free practice.
The Airwaves Ducati man wrestled the lead from Haslam with six minutes to go with a time of 1'27.232 compared to Haslam's 1'27.317 and then twisted the knife by going another tenth quicker with two two minutes of the session remaining.
Team-mate Leon Camier was half a second slower and takes third place with Cal Crutchlow rounding out the top four on a 1'27.966.
STP Racing's Chris Burns, on an MV Agusta, was the session' dark horse posting a 1'28.758 which was good enough for eigth place - he was later black flagged for smoking. Burns has Tom Sykes, Michael Rutter and Stuart Easton in front of him.
