BRANDS BSB: CAMIER WINS RACE ONE FROM PARKES

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier has taken the British Superbike race one win at Brands Hatch this afternoon ahead of World Superbike regular Broc Parkes  in second, with

But Camier's pace was so quick he finished the best part of 12 seconds ahead of Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton in third over an 18-lap race who was, in turn, four seconds ahead of HM Plant Honda stand-in rider Karl Muggeridge.

Parkes got off the line quickest from Muggeridge and Camier was third into Paddock Hill. Easton came from the third row and up into sixth by the time the leading bunch went into Druids.

Parkes' team boss Sheridan Morais lasted halfway through the first lap and had to take evasive action as an attempted pass on Tommy Hill at Stirling started to go wrong, he had to hit the brakes and was spat off, fortunately unharmed but he was on his spare bike, so his team have a lot of work to do.

The Aussie, meanwhile, pulled a gap on Muggeridge in second while Camier tried to find a way past the HM Plant Honda and Easton started to claw his way through from sixth place, passing Ellison on lap two.

Camier got past Muggeridge on the second lap going into Surtees and set off  after Parkes who was already a second in front. On lap three, Easton went past Walker and then, one lap later, was past Muggeridge as Camier closed the gap on Parkes.

Hill was the next man past Ellison on the same lap, slipping up the inside of the Airwaves Yamaha into Hawthorne. On lap six, Hill tried a pass on Walker into Surtees but ran wide and lost two places for his trouble.

On lap eight, Hill finally got past the Motorpoint Honda on the run up to Druids  while, two laps later, Camier finally got the better of Parkes and began to pull away.

Easton pulled a gap on Muggeridge and had a lonely ride for his third place  as Hill and Ellison started a scrap for for fifth place. Hill got past the Yamaha and then set off in pursuit of Muggeridge and very nearly caught him on the last lap as the Aussie ran wide into Hawthorn but his lead was enough he crossed the line four-tenths in front of the Londoner.

Ellison finished in sixth with John Laverty, Karl Harris, Chris Walker and Julien Da Costa making up the top ten. Gary Mason was the first Superbike Cup rider home, in 13th place overall, just behind the ill Ian Lowry.
