There is still all to play for going into the final MCE British Superbike round at Brands Hatch after title challenger’s Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes and Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne crashed in race two.
Both riders were unhurt in separate incidences, but they both crashed in the same spot, at Druids. Lowes never completed a single full lap as he fell on his opening rotation around the circuit, and a few laps later Byrne followed suit.
The triple champ was seen hobbling away but the team said the rider is fine, but will start race three from 22nd on the grid. Lowes still leads the championship by three points, and starts the final outing on row three, but does name Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes as the perpetrator in his crash.
“As I came out Josh hit my bar and I went down. It was not my fault and I didn’t do anything wrong. I can’t be angry about it as it was out of my control. It is one of those things and it was also unfortunate to see Byrne go down,” said Lowes at the track.
