Brands BSB: ‘Difficult’ second race for Lowes

Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes came away from the MCE British Superbike weekend at Brands Hatch with two podiums, a second place finish in race one and third in race two. The youngster could not battle for a win in the final outing and found the race ‘difficult’.

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne was the eventual race winner and was tangled in a battle with Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison for the victory. Lowes could not find the pace to keep up with the two Englishman and had to settle for the final step on the rostrum.

Lowes made changes to his bike between the two races, which failed to materialize for the better, but the Lincolnshire lad was content with coming away with two rostrum finishes and those all important podium credits.

“It was quite a difficult race really but the bike didn’t feel quite as good as I changed the bike from the first race. I tried my best but I enjoyed it and had a go at the end and didn’t give in, but didn’t get close to pass safely,” said Lowes, speaking at the circuit.

“I have not been particularly fast and don’t think I rode very well yesterday, I needed to make improvements with the bike and I didn’t give the guys too much feedback, but I am happy enough with a couple of podiums.

“Oulton Park next and I like that circuit and went pretty good there at the start of the year, and hopefully we will have some good weather and some more podiums.”
