Ducati's TriOptions 848 Challenge returns this weekend (5/6/7 April) for the opening round at Brands Hatch in Kent as 24 riders line up for the first two races of the season.
2012 champion Robbie Brown has progressed to the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship and the field has been blown wide open, with former champion Leon Morris returning to the grid onboard the Stockbridge Racing Ducati and eager to lift a second title.
The most experienced rider of the field, Mike ‘Spike’ Edwards has over 30 seasons of experience and after finishing fourth in last year’s Challenge is determined to return to race-winning form on his Ohlins P&H Motorcycles Ducati.
In addition to Leon Morris (Stockbridge Racing), 2010 series winner Darren Fry (JHP/Ducati Coventry) also returns to the grid for the 2013 season with new entries to the grid including Ben Gallaway (Team Afterdark) and Jonathan Railton (Boast Plumbing AOR).
Former World and British champion Neil Hodgson returns as the Series Ambassador and is eager for the season to get underway this weekend: “The start of the season is always exciting and I can’t wait for the Ducati TriOptions 848 Challenge to kick off at Brands Hatch. It is good to see new riders in the series this year and also some familiar faces; there were some really close races last season and I think this year will be even closer.”
Ducati Managing Director, Tim Maccabee commented: “We’re all looking forward to some quality racing again this year with the 848 Superbike proving popular both with riders and race fans. It is great to be a part of MCE British Superbikes which surely delivers the best programme of National motorcycle Championships in the world.”
