JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s James Ellison is preparing for this weekend’s Brands Hatch MCE British Superbike double-header with a test at Snetterton today and then another one at Donington Park to fine tune some new fuelling maps and engine-braking settings.
The Leicester-based Cumbrian has never won a race on the Brands GP track and Ellison is hopeful three days’ work on the dyno will fix their fuelling prpblems and enable him to cement a position in The Showdown as well as picking up much-needed podium points.
“We’ve got some different fuel maps and engine-brake settings to test. After running the engines on the dyno for three days, they are really strong but had some peaks and troughs in the power and torque curves so these should smooth it out - we will see what happens on the track,” Ellison told bikesportnews.com
“We know it will need a little bit of tweaking, as dyno work doesn’t always translate precisely to the track. What we are doing is fine tuning really before Friday practice.
“I’ve got lap record, poles and fastest laps on the GP circuit but I’ve never won one. We need to start winning now. The feeling that I need I haven’t quite got it yet but this is what we are doing now to match the maps and stuff to everything else.”
