Tyco BMW’s Michael Laverty set the fastest time of the MCE British Superbike race weekend so far, with a 1’26.109 in the second free practice session at Brands Hatch, and everything appear’s to be ‘coming together’ for the Northern Irishman.
The Wales-based rider and his team have been working hard to get the S1000RR up to pace, and over the last two rounds Laverty has been up the sharp end and is feeling more comfortable on the bike.
Championship points are the aim for the former MotoGP rider, but he has taken confidence in the fact that he was able to out-pace, both PBM Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne and Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes.
“I’m really happy with the way things are going - we have been building over the last three rounds, starting at Snetterton and then at Knockhill,” said Laverty.
“I am feeling really comfortable with the bike and knew that it was all coming together - we had been going round in circles earlier but now I feel at home with the bike.
“I have been able to push at ten tenths and for the first time this year have ended the day leading the session. It is important to get big championship points in these races.”
