Bennetts Suzuki’s Tommy Bridewell will start on the front row for the MCE British Superbike race at Brands Hatch tomorrow, but he is still feeling a bit disappointed by his time.
The Devizes rider felt he could have got more out of his 1’25.707 lap, and also believed that he could not really benefit from a new rear tyre. But his time was fast enough to go P3, but he still couldn’t match the pace of Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne and Quattro Plant Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey.
But he is happy with his race pace, and his respectable lap time means that he is in the perfect position to challenge for a win on Sunday.
“I went and sat in the garage on my own. I don’t know why I was disappointed to be honest and I don’t know what I expected because to be fair I had only done a 25.6 before so I knew I couldn’t match the pace of these guys for one lap - I just can’t do it,” said Bridewell, speaking at the track.
“The reason I was disappointed and frustrated was because I hoped to get something in my lap, for me I cant get the benefit from a new rear tyre, to be honest if anything it's probably better to put in a new front tyre. But the same degree to get on the front row is a massive help for me because my race pace is strong.
“This makes life a lot easier and I am just going to charge from the front. I think everyone’s race pace is going to be phenomenal. Realistically I will be looking for high 25’s in the first ten laps. We should be alright and see what we can do.”
