BRANDS BSB: HARRIS TAKES FIRST BLOOD

Hydrex Honda's Karl Harris has taken first blood in the opening British Superbike free practice session at Brands Hatch this morning, lapping 0.42s quicker than team-mate Stuart Easton in second as Honda take the top five places.

The pair were at the top of the timesheets for most of the hour-and-a-half session with HM Plant stand-in rider Steve Plater mixing it up with the Hydrex boys.

Team-mate Glen Richards ended up in third place with a time of 46.570, which was only a tenth off Harris's time while former MotoGP man Sylvain Guintoli was fourth.

Plater held off Quay Honda's Gary Mason who was by far the fastest of the Superbike Cup runners in sixth overall and Leon Camier, whose bike was started for the first time on Tuesday afternoon, was seventh just four-tenths off the pace.

Camier's team-mate James Ellison only completed one lap before pulling in and MSS Kawasaki's Simon Andrews waited until half an hour before the end of the session to start his 22 lap run. The top 18 were covered by just one second.
