Be Wiser Ducati's Glenn Irwin fully believes he will be in the fight for the Bennetts British Superbike title when the series returns to Brands Hatch for a third time at the end of this season.
The Carrickfergus rider took a brace of second places behind Josh Brookes yesterday and clawed back some podium credits on Leon Haslam who finished in third twice.
"I was trying everything. I had a big false neutral early in the race and it got stuck in third for a bit but the race was much different to earlier, and I think Josh and I knew we had a much stronger pace than we showed in race one," said Irwin, speaking at the track.
"The pace was faster and you're trying to save a bit of tyre too but fair play to Josh, at the end I gave it everything - I nearly flicked myself at Druids, lost the front at Graham Hill, I got back to him and he nearly did the same at the last corner.
"But he rode a strong race, Leon kept us honest and it's important to be good here. We come back here in October and I fully believe we will be fighting for the championship, and cooler conditions should help us a little more too. But we've got a lot of racing to do in between..."
