Brands BSB: Jackson 'mega happy' with fifth place in race one

Buildbase BMW's Lee Jackson has been on the pace all MCE British Superbike weekend and felt really comfortable onboard his S1000RR, and it showed with a fifth place finish in race one, and was just pipped to the post by his team-mate Richard Cooper in the final event at Brands Hatch.

Jackson is 'mega happy' after his opening race, and made up for an average start to cross the finishing line with eleven points. His crew made minimal changes to the BMW and only opted for a lighter fuel load in race two.

A good base setting was key for Jackson and he was pleased both him and his team-mate, were able to fight through the pack and all the way to the top six  in race two.

"It has been a  good weekend and on Friday morning I was inside the top ten and it was positive from there. The first race I was a little bit disappointed with myself after getting a rubbish start so to come back and finish fifth I was mega happy with," said Jackson, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

"Race two, was a bit disappointed that the lap time we did, did not put us further up the grid. Again I got an average start and it was a nightmare getting blocked in on the first lap and I knew I had a massive challenge on my hands and 20 laps around here is a long time.

"We got a good run and clear track and managed to settle a good pace and Richard and myself managed to make some headway. Lighter fuel load was the only difference between the races, the bike has been working well and we had a good base setting and the team have been working hard and have done a fantastic job."
