SMT Racing rider Adam Jenkinson claimed the top spot of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 race at Brands Hatch today, but had to fend off fierce competition from Isle of Man TT legend, Padgett’s Honda rider John McGuiness, and Swedish rider Filip Backlund.
McGuiness led for most of the race but on lap 22 he was over taken by the Kawasaki of Jenkinson, quickly followed by Backlund. But with only two laps remaining it was not enough time for the TT legend to find more pace to regain his top spot position.
Idaq Motorsports Peter Ward, had a consistent race, and with half of the race to go he was still fighting with the other top three riders, but in the end had to settle for fourth spot as the chequered flag went down on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Buildbase BMW’s Lee Jackson had a solid race and made it safely inside the top ten, in sixth place.
Kawasaki WD-40 racing team rider Jonathan Railton could not emulate his fast times from the free practice sessions over the weekend, and came over the line in ninth, followed by British Superbike stalwart Steve Brogan on his Kawasaki, who narrowly made it into the top ten.
