Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot is still in search of the elusive debut MCE British Superbike win despite taking a haul of podiums this season and hopes he will make the breakthrough at Brands Hatch this weekend.
Linfoot struggled with tyre wear at Thruxton but previous to that took four podiums from four races and believes he can fight at the sharp end following a test at Cadwell Park.
“We had a good test at Cadwell Park last week and I felt positive because last year it was a track that was a bit difficult for me, so I feel that we are now in a better position. That is a track that you really have to get into and we did lots of laps and I did my fastest ever time there so I am feeling pretty confident heading to Brands Hatch,” said the Yorkshireman.
“I look back on the races we had on the Grand Prix circuit last year and I was running fairly equal times at the end of the race to Michael Laverty and he won the race so I am fairly confident that we can be stronger. We need to focus on getting into Superpole and then be ready for Sunday.
“I am fortunate that I am currently in the top six but I look at it that it could be better if I didn’t have those two non points scores at Oulton Park, although it could obviously be a lot worse too! We have to maximise our situation this weekend; I know I am good enough and the team is good enough so we are ready to come out fighting.”
