Quattro Plant Kawasaki's Luke Mossey lapped a 1'25.805 that placed his ZX-10R at the top of the opening MCE British Superbike free practice timesheets at Brands Hatch.
The Showdown rider went 0.06s faster than JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison who was second quickest in the morning outing, with ePayMe Yamaha's John Hopkins completing the top three.
The American also put down a sub 1'26 time and was consistently on the pace throughout the 45 minute session, after a 1'25.893 rotation on the R1. Title fighter Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne went one tenth quicker than his title rival, JG Speedfit Kawasaki's Leon Haslam.
The Panigale racer clocked a 1'26.067, that placed him fourth on the timing-screens, compared to Haslam who ended the cold morning in P7. Honda Racing's Dan Linfoot and Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon were fifth and sixth fastest respectively.
The opening session was red flagged with fifteen minutes remaining after the S1000RR belonging to Buildbase BMW's Richard Cooper experienced a technical problem at Clearways and FP1 was stopped to double check that there was no oil spilt out on the Kent track.
Cooper was not the only Buildbase rider to end up on the side of the circuit. His younger team-mate, Lee Jackson crashed unhurt at Sheene Curve with a handful of seconds remaining to the session. At the flag Parkes, Jackson and Bridewell completed the top ten.
