Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot set the third fastest time in the second MCE British Superbike free practice session at Brands Hatch, and is happy to be ‘in the mix’ going into qualifying and race one tomorrow.
The Northerner lapped a 1’25.658 and was one tenth off the best time set by pace-setter and title challenger, Be Wiser Ducati’s Shane Byrne. Linfoot also used FP2 to test out both the harder
and softer option rear tyres, and set his fastest lap on the softer compound.
But Linfoot is not getting ‘too excited’ with his fast pace as he is hoping to convert his good form going in to qualifying on Saturday. He is also aiming to make it on to the podium this race weekend too.
“I used both rears but for my fast lap I used the soft tyre. It is not really a surprise because earlier in the year when we came to this track my Friday [pace] was quite good then,” said Linfoot, speaking to Bikesportnews.com at the track.
“I am not getting too excited at the moment as I want to qualify well for the race which is the most important thing. But it is nice to be in the mix on a Friday and I have been weak on a Friday in the past - I want podiums.”
