Moto Rapido Lloyds British Ducati rider Jakub Smrz has told bikesportnews.com that he will be back in the MCE British Superbike series in 2015, but he is not revealing with which team.
The former World Superbike racer has been out of action with a wrist injury that he sustained in Cadwell, and made his return today with the Moto Rapido garage, but under a new sponsor. Smrz has been progressing well during free practice, and is still getting used to riding his bike once gain.
He is not longer feeling much pain in his wrist, but has it taped up as a precaution, but has the top ten as an aim during the triple header this race weekend at Brands Hatch. But he will be taking things easy and definitely has a goal to be in the points tomorrow and Sunday.
I will be back in 2015, I already have some plans but things will be official soon, but I want to stay in BSB. But the most important thing is that I am here," said Smrz, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.
"I am feeling good and glad to be back as it has been a long time. The first session was not really wet or dry and I didn’t do many laps, but still happy to be here.
"I would like to finish inside the top ten. I will have to see how my wrist is after 15 laps, but today I have been taking it easy because of the wrist, but I want to score points and the top ten is my goal.
“The wrist is OK, but it is taped up just for security, and it is seven weeks from surgery and it is really good that I can ride a race bike again. But it is more of a matter of getting used to riding the bike again. We are getting better and we are progressing – which is good.”
