Team Repli-Cast's three young British 125GP riders had a mixed weekend of great performances hampered by mechanical gremlins at the season opening Brands Hatch British Superbike round.
The enthusiastic young Repli-cast UK racing team line up of Scotsman Robbie Stewart, Scotsman Adam Blacklock and London-based Kasey Wyatt arrived at the Kent track on Thursday and took on the challenges of mixed weather and a strong field of over 40 riders over the four day event to push their bikes and performance during both warm ups and qualifying.
Striking New Repli-Cast racing leathers were sported by Wyatt commonly known as Tadpole to the Repli-Cast team and his growing fan base. Wyatt showed a promising performance over the weekend despite being hit by mechanical difficulties in the pit lane during qualifying.
Team Manager Gary Dawson said: "The team are disappointed to be hit by an unexpected mechanical failure but are happy to see Kasey has successfully qualified for the Easter Monday race based on previous qualifying times recorded."
Robbie Stewart has rejoined the class moving to Repli-Cast UK racing from European Superstock 600cc Championship in 2008. After securing a second in the 2007 125cc series the popular teen is keen to be back for more and recieved a welcome return to the field...
Early warm ups and qualifying showed mixed results with the experienced young Scot pushing the front runners. A mechanical fault forced an early return to the pits after one lap in final qualifying as Robbie was poised to push for a prime position on the grid. Despite the disappointment, Robbie started the main race challenge on Monday from a strong mid-grid position.
Adam Blacklock certainly appeared at home at Brands throughout the weekend, putting in some strong warm up and qualifying times up to gain an 8th place start on the grid.
Blacklock made a storming start from his strong grid position to go into early lap challenges with the front runners with Stewart back and eager to prove he means business joined his team mate pushing the front pack. With some ground to make up Wyatt maintained a solid start and cracked on with the task in hand in front of record crowds.
Backlock's push towards the leaders ended when he was caught up in another rider's misfortune and brought down at Paddock Hil bend. He only sustained minor cuts and bruising but was extremly disappointed to not finish the race and challenge for honours.. Sadly soon after team mate Robbie Stewart was faced with further mechanical difficulties and had to return into the pits.
Kasey Wyatt continued to progress well to finish the race and expressed he was pleased with the bikes performance and looking forward to improving on todays race at the next Round at Oulton Park,
After the race Team Manager Gary Dawson said: "We have a great team of people at Repli-Cast UK Racing. All three riders have put in some positive performances over this weekend and we are pleased to report Adam Blacklock is safe and well after his fall
"We have faced a couple of unpredictable mechanical failures that the team worked late into the night to rectify and there's definately more to come from these bikes."
