Buildbase BMW's Richard Cooper is back in showdown contention, after finishing inside the top ten in both MCE British Superbike races at Brands Hatch.
The diminutive rider ended race one in eighth and in the final outing in fifth, and those solid points means he has moved up the standings and inside the top six with 125 points.
But Cooper did make a change in the final race, and opted for the harder front tyre compound, and the gamble certainly paid off and he was able to gain some confidence to battle out on track.
"A good weekend but a very disappointing race one. We had the pace for fifth and to finish eighth and not really have an answer for the people around me in race one was very disappointing, luckily for me the riders who were in contention for the showdown were behind me," said Cooper, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.
"Race two we made some big changes to the bike especially to the front tyre. It was still a black Pirelli but it was a different harder compound. I have been doing BSB for two years and I have never used the SC2 for tyre, and it just gave me the confidence that I needed in race two.
"We made good head-way and we were quite strong during the end of the race and the safety car admittedly helped us. But we took advantage and got us back in Showdown contention and recovered a good race two."
