Rory Skinner may have been grabbing all the headlines, and deservedly so, at FS-3 Racing Kawasaki so far this season but team-mate Lee Jackson has been quietly going about his business and, three rounds in, is sitting comfortably in one of the Showdown positions.
Indeed, he’s only 13 points behind Skinner and has finished all nine races to take place so far this season inside the top ten and now sits in seventh overall in the title standings. Brands Hatch at the weekend firmly highlighted this with the Lincolnshire runner taking sixth, seventh and eighth in the three races.
“The season’s been going well so far and I think we’ve showed our pace at every round. I was strong in both the wet and dry at Brands and although Sunday was a bit of a weird day with the different conditions and the short race, we were in the mix throughout," said the Lincolnshre plumber.
“I’d gone with a wet front and inter rear for the wet race but with it being stopped we were back to full dry’s although I really fluffed the re-start – I nearly stalled the thing.
“I managed to get back up to eighth though and it’s nice to be scoring good, strong and consistent points each time. That’s what it’s all about at this stage of the season so it’s been a case of ‘so far, so good’ but I’m looking to bridge the gap to the leaders.
“I’m not a million miles away and my pace has been good at all the circuits so we just need to find those last couple of tenths so we can fight for the podium places.”
