BSB Oulton Park FP3 Results | Bridewell moves top ahead of qualifying

Tommy Bridewell topped the third and final British Superbike Championship free practice session at a damp Oulton Park on Sunday.

The BeerMonster Ducati rider lapped 0.277s quicker than Christian Iddon (Oxford Products Racing Ducati) with championship leader Josh Brookes (FHO Racing BMW) placing third.

Danny Kent (Lovell Kent Racing Honda) topped the early timesheets with a 1’52.754, more than 17s slower than Peter Hickman’s quickest time on Saturday, from Bridewell and Charlie Nesbitt (MasterMac Honda by Hawk Racing) but it was Iddon who dipped below 1’50s for the first time, the Ducati man posting a 1’49.970.

That was immediately bettered by Kent who lapped at 1’49.641 around the 2.692-mile venue only for Iddon to respond with a 1’48.059 and half way through the short 15-minute session the running order was Iddon, Glenn Irwin on the second BeerMonster Ducati, Kent, Brookes, Nesbitt and Bridewell.

Leon Haslam (ROKiT BMW Motorrad) and Tim Neave (McAMS Yamaha) were the next riders to get into the 1’49 bracket and with conditions improving slightly, so too were the lap times, Bridewell the next rider to top the leaderboard with a 1’47.782.

That gave him a quarter second advantage over Iddon but with the light drizzle continuing to fall, that was as good as it got with a Ducati 1-2 followed by Brookes, Kent, Haslam and Lee Jackson (Cheshire Mouldings Kawasaki).

Neave held on for seventh with team-mate Jason O’Halloran in eighth as Irwin and Jack Kennedy (Mar-Train Racing Yamaha) completed the top ten. Nesbitt was a late faller, uninjured, at Brittens.
