CN Honda's Danny Buchan is relishing the prospect of going up against the country's fastest and most experienced National Superstock 1000 racers when he once again enters the fray at the British Superbike opener over the Easter Weekend at Brands Hatch.
The youngster, who switched to the Ten Kate-supported team over the winter, has been spending the closed season keeping fit and intends to come out fighting at the opening rounds, taking it to the big names like Steve Brogan and Jason O'Halloran. He will get his first taste of the 2012 Fireblade at Almeria next week.
“I think having 2008 Superstock Champion Steve Brogan, Howie Mainwaring, O’Halloran, my CN team-mates and all the other good riders in the series gives it more credibility for sure, it will mean even more when you beat racers of that sort of level. I can’t wait to get the season going now and test myself against these guys but I know I’m not alone," said Buchan.
"I’m really straining at the leash now, it was good to get out on a ‘Blade in December but I can’t wait to get on the Ten Kate spec next week. Fitness wise my trainer has been adding combat techniques to my normal gym and running work which works so many muscle groups and also keeps you supple. I’m going to do some cycling in Spain around the practise events for the same reason and it’s so much easier than in this sort of weather obviously.”
