JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam believes the 2016 MCE British Superbike title is Shane Byrne’s to lose at the Brands Hatch finale this weekend.
The Derby rider has a 17-point deficit going into thte triple header in Byrne’s back yard and says he will go out to win all three races while the Be Wiser Ducati man might have to do a bit more thinking.
We would obviously prefer to be ahead but we go into the Brands Hatch weekend knowing what we need to do. It is very simple for me; I have to go out and win the races and beat Shakey in all three. He has everything to lose and needs to think more about the positions than I do,” said Haslam.
“I don’t think there is a one up for him or me on the Grand Prix circuit; everyone knows it is his home track but Donington was mine and he beat me there so now I want to do the same to him at his! I think we can achieve what we need to this weekend and that is three wins. There is always added pressure on Shakey for the home round, where we just want to keep up the momentum we showed at Assen.
“We have won six of the last eight races and that is a statistic I like; we want to end this weekend adding to that tally to make it at least nine but hopefully eleven.”
