Cadwell BSB: Brookes regains confidence after FP crash

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes kept up his consistent good form going into the MCE British Superbike qualifying sessions at Cadwell Park, but admitted that he lacked ‘confidence’ after a crash in the final free practice session this morning.

He was out-paced by Be Wiser Kawasaki’s Danny Buchan in the opening two qualifying outings this afternoon, but after a few laps Brookes didn’t hold back and pulled the pin to snatch pole with a superb 1’26.433 in Q3.

The Bringelly man went under lap record pace, both yesterday and today, but after the FP3 crash he had to work hard to build on his confidence to fight for the all important pole position that he managed to clinch today.

“All weekend I have been fast, but I had a little slip off in the session this morning - I think we were chasing a unicorn,” said, Brookes at the circuit.

“We were trying to improve the bike when it was already really good and where we gained a little bit, we lost a bit in another area and I slipped off and my confidence was a little knocked.

“It doesn’t matter how well you are going, even if you have a little crash it does do that so Q1 and Q2 I took it steady and was building up to give it everything in Q3. We have worked hard for it today.”
