Riders Motorcycles BMW’s Martin Jessopp has kept up his consistent good that he has found this weekend, and his hard work paid off during the MCE British Superbike qualifying yesterday, and now he’s aiming for some solid points today at Cadwell Park.
The Yeovil rider was inside the top ten in the final free practice session and made it all the way to Q3 in qualifying. He will start on row three for the opening race this afternoon at the Lincolnshire track, but a good start is key if the rider wants to finish inside the top ten.
Over the last couple of rounds Jessopp has been on the pace in all the free practice sessions, but it fell a part in qualifying. But on Saturday the BMW racer held it together and didn’t let the pressure get to him to start ninth on the race-one grid.
“It has been a good weekend and I have been consistently in the top ten in the last two, three rounds - but it is usually always qualifying that has let me down,” said Jessopp, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the track.
“Thruxton I was inside the top ten all weekend and then come qualifying I was screwing it all up but there was a lot of pressure from myself on my shoulders coming into this weekend for qualifying, as we have been doing really good in the free practices and I did not want to throw all the hard work away, especially at here at Cadwell.
“We are on row three and I will give myself the best chance to get away and we will see what we can do. We haven’t changed anything on the bike - the BMW’s are so good out of the box and there are five us them in the top ten and I will try and pull my finger out. I am always a Sunday man and I am looking forward to it.”
