HM Plant Honda's pit crew will be having a busy time at the team's Louth HQ tonight as Cal Crutchlow's engine has let go not once but twice at Cadwell Park today.
It is not known exactly what the problem with the Fireblade has been today but surely it cannot be another in the series of "electrical problems" that have befallen the team so far this season.
Crutchlow was forced to pull in at Park corner in both free practice sessions and was seen to grab the clutch lever before he coasted to a halt.
www.bikesportnews.com has learned that the team is having to rebuild the Blade motors after every meeting and that the problems are at the top end of the engine - possibly camshaft-related.
As you can see from the picture below, Crutchlow was obviously worried about the problem and has been riding with his hand covering the clutch lever.
Hydrex Honda have also been suffering with engine blow-ups this season but it is thought their motors have been breaking cranks.
