CADWELL BSB: LAVERTY EXPECTING PODIUM BATTLE WITH ANDREWS

Buildbase Kawasaki's John Laverty reckons he should be in a podium battle with fellow Kawasaki rider Simon Andrews in the British Superbike double header at Cadwell Park tomorrow.

The young Irishman put his ZX-10R in second place on the grid, just in front of the injured Evesham man, but both trail polesitter Leon Camier by more than half a second.

"We’ve been steady away. At Brands Hatch we had some strong races starting from 13th going up to fifth, that’s seven places.  It shows we have good race pace," said Laverty, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"The Kawasakis have been a bit on the back foot recently, but they’ve been strong this year. Leon is in a place of his own, but it will be an interesting fight for the rest of the podium positions. I know myself and Andrews will be battling hard.

“In every session we got quicker and in the ten minute final it's down to one tyre and six laps.  Normally, the plan doesn’t work but it did today. The team have worked really hard and Buildbase are really happy.

"As for the race my starts are really good. I have actually been joking with Leon as we compared our starts and mine were better than his.”
