National Superstock 1000 front-runner Howie Mainwaring has been drafted in to replace the injured David Johnson in the Maxxis Yamaha team for this weekend's British Superbike round at Cadwell Park.
Mainwaring, who regularly finishes in the Superstock top 10, got the ride after Johnson crashed heavily during the opening race at Brands Hatch last time out.
“Howie is currently running in the top 10 of the Superstock Championship, so this is an ideal opportunity to get him on the R1 and see if he can step up to the Superbike series. Howie has already been testing on our bikes earlier this week with encouraging results, so I am hoping for a good finish this bank holiday," said team boss John Jameson.
