Cadwell BSB: ‘Potential’ for more wins to come for Ellison

McAMS Yamaha’s James Ellison secured his first MCE British Superbike win of the season during the second race at Cadwell Park, now the R1 rider is confident that there is ‘potential’ for more victories throughout the year.

Ellison also bagged the maiden win for his McAMS backed team and throughout the race weekend the Cumbrian rider improved his pace, so much so that he started race two from the front row.

In the opening race Ellison finished in tenth but kept setting consistently quick times, and this season the rider has been on the cusp of race wins, but has been blighted by bad luck and some technical issues.

Ellison feels 2017 has been a disappointing year for him as he knows that he has the skills and abilities to achieve victories and now he is happy he has rewarded his crew with maximum points.

Throughout the last race at the Lincolnshire circuit, Ellison was locked in an intense fight for the win with the Smiths BMW duo of Lee Jackson and Peter Hickman. In the end Ellison got the better of the S1000RRs and held on to clinch the number one place on the rostrum.

“It has been there all year and we have seen we have had strong pace every single round expect Thruxton and to get McAMS Yamaha’s first Superbike win that’s pretty special. I wish we got it earlier in the season and there is still potential for many more to come for this year and hopefully next year,” said Ellison.

“It has been a disappointing  year for me and not to be able to give the team the results  I feel I deserve, the team deserve and Yamaha deserve.  We have had a bit of bad luck but we have had the pace and this is nice to reward them with a win.

“Cadwell Park is not my favourite circuit, it is a fun one so to run the times we were running was pretty good. Lee put a fantastic pace on in the beginning. It was a good, fun race and we fought for that one, it was a hot pace and I am happy to be going home with the win.”
