Cadwell BSB: Rain halts second free practice

A massive downpour has seen the premature end of this afternoon's second MCE British Superbike session at Cadwell Park after only a handful of laps and several red flags.

Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill topped the standings with a 1'28.477 which was eight-tenths quicker than second-placed man Alastair Seeley with Alex Lowes third, Michael Laverty fourth and Michael Rutter fifth.

Most riders only got out for seven laps of the track and the session was stopped first for Luca Scassa's accident at the Hairpin, where Noriyuki Haga also fell, followed by Peter Hickman coming off at Coppice and then Shane Byrne was taken to hospital with a right shoulder injury. The stint was re-started but then rain and hail began to fall so it was abandoned.
