RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki’s Jake Dixon says he’s definitely on the mend and looking forward to challenging for wins when tomorrow’s Bennetts British Superbike races get underway.
Dixon, who was feeling decidedly unwell yesterday with what he believes to be a viral infection, emerged quick out of the blocks once again today as the battle raged for grid positions.
And he pushed Leon Haslam and eventual polesetter Bradley Ray all the way in final qualifying, ending third quickest and just a fraction off Ray’s best time.
“I didn’t realise how close it actually was – it was just 0.062 so there’s nothing in it,” he said. “I said to the team that if we could get on the front row it would be great, I’m definitely looking forward to the races now.”
With the sickness now clearing up, he is hoping an early night and more rest will leave him ready to fight tomorrow.
“I’ve not felt he best throughout the weekend through being ill but I feel loads better now and hopefully I’ll feel even better tomorrow.
“The changes we made have worked well and it’s all been good today. I said if I could get on the front row, that’s where you need to be for the race.
“I feel like now I’ve got some energy back and we’ll be in a good position for tomorrow’s races.”
