CADWELL BSB: WILSON GUTTED AFTER CHAIN JUMPS OFF

Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson was left gutted after after his chain jumped off the sprocket and severed a water pipe, forcing him to retire from the British Supersport race at Cadwell Park

As Wilson came over the notorious Mountain, he landed awkwardly which pinged the chain off. After hurriedly putting it back on, he was forced to retire and watch from the sidelines.

"I missed a gear on that first lap and I had to push hard to make my way back up the field. I needed to get back in contention as quickly as possible because I realised that Billy McConnell would break away at the front and it would be near impossible to catch him," said Wilson.

"But as I went over the Mountain I got it all crossed up and the chain jumped off. I managed to pop it back on and continue but I soon realised that it had split the water pipe and I had to pull off at Park to retire.

"I am gutted, not only for myself but for the team who have worked so hard again this weekend. But there are still three rounds and 75 points to race for and I am still in with an outside chance of winning the title so I will still be trying hard for it."
