CADWELL GETS MAJOR SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS

With less than two weeks until the start of the 2008 season, Cadwell Park has unveiled a raft of safety improvements that have been made to the circuit during the winter months.

For riders and drivers, the main benefits are extended run-off areas and new Armco barriers, particularly around Chris Curve. Improvements include:

  • Extended run-off area from Chris Curve through to Gooseneck Approach. The run-off has increased to at least 20 metres wide and a new Armco barrier has been added to replace the old lorry tyre wall
  • Pit lane exit extended and re-profiled to provide a safer environment when competitors re-join the circuit
  • 300 metre section of Chris Curve resurfaced
  • Armco barriers added on the inside of Coppice and from Chicane through to Mountain Bottom

For spectators, grandstand timber has been replaced to improve seated viewing areas.

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of Cadwell Park, said: "These improvements are part of the long term developments we have been implementing over the past few years to make Cadwell Park even safer. In particular, extending the run-off at Chris Curve will benefit drivers and riders and allow for smoother-flowing race weekends with fewer red flags."
