Cartagena BSB test: Buchan looking for big steps forward

Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati’s Danny Buchan will have a whole raft of new parts to try at this week’s Cartagena Pro-Test ahead of the new MCE British Superbike season that kicks off next month and is expecting some big steps forward in terms of pace in Spain.

The lanky Essex Doris botherer knows Cartagena well so should be able to hit the ground running when he rolls down pitlane on Thursday and will have the Be Wiser Ducatis of Shane Byrne and Glenn Irwin by way of a comparison.

"We obviously start the next test at Cartagena in a good place, but the bike we will be testing this time will have quite a few changes so I would imagine it could feel a lot different on circuit. We have a lot of new parts to test and I want to use the time and get the best out of everything we can, especially as Cartagena is a track I am really familiar with. I am sure testing will throw up some different times and riders - we saw that last year and to be fair I learnt a lot from that season,” said Buchan.

"I already feel comfortable on the Ducati and to have some back to back testing is ideal for us. The team have given me a whole list of the new parts we have to test and work through and I have to say that I am really excited. The Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati feels great already and I think with the next stage of testing we can move forward again and then we will be ready for the UK tests and the first round.”
