JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam switched to the 2016-spec ZX-20R on the first day of testing at Cartagena and said he was pleaed with the bike after 20 laps but there is still a lot of work to do, and parts to evaulate.
The Derby rider missed the opening session as his JG Speedfit-backed team completed some last minute adjustments but managed 20 laps in the two afternoon sessions.
“We got some good laps in the afternoon after missing the morning and the 2016 bike feels good. We have got a lot of parts and setup to evaluate over this test and because the sessions are short, you only get to do one thing per session but it has started well,” said Haslam, speaking at the track.
“We are still quite a way off a good lap time but so is everyone else. It’s more down to the track, I think, than anyone here, but when it comes in, it will get better. As I said, there is a lot for us to do over these few days but it has started well.”
