Cat Green 'ecstatic' with debut Motostar win

Catherine Green powered in her first ever victory in the Monster Energy Motostar Championship yesterday, leading throughout a rain-lashed race ended prematurely by red-flags as Taz Taylor crashed heavily.

It as a deserved result for the lady from Swadlincote who has worked hard over the years to achieve success, and a place in the sporting annals as the first to win a British championship race.

Riding the RS Racing Honda she took charge of the race, taking the victory by 11.572secs, and afterwards explained: "I got a really good start and my bike was just so good in the wet. I didn't have any moments or issues. I saw the size of the gap on my pit board but didn't want to back off or lose any concentration.

"I am just ecstatic to have taken this victory - it has been a long time coming and I was not expecting it here, but maybe the rain did me a favour," she continued.

Teenage whizz-kid Joe Francis took second place, his best ever result in the championship aboard the Banks Racing Honda, and with it he won the Motostar Cup category ahead of Joe Irving while championship leading Luke Hedger finished back in sixth place.
