Chatter hampers Brookes at Assen BSB test

Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes had to contend with chatter for most of his track time during today's test at Assen which kept his laptime down at a circuit he knows well from World Supersport days.

The Bringelly man, who lies second behind reigning champion Tommy Hill in the MCE British Superbike title standings, managed a 1'38.9s fastest lap but the big GSX-R1000 was also down on power because of noise restrictions.

"I know the track pretty well, so that wasn't an issue but it was good to refresh my memory of the place. We had some chatter for most of the day and couldn't really find a cure plus some heavy tyre wear but we got to the bottom of that by the end so it wasn't a big problem," said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

"The noise restrictions didn't help either and the dB killer we used was building up a lot of back pressure so in the end, we ran it on full chat. It's been useful and good to know what we need to work on before we get here for a race weekend proper."
