Former Spanish Moto2 star Kevin Coghlan has signed for the Appleyard Macadam team and will parner existing rider Deane Brown in a two-pronged assault on the 2012 British Supersport Championship.
The Scot has spent most of his career racing in Spain and has wildcarded in two MotoGP support classes. He and Brown, who steps up from the Metzeler National Superstock 600 class, will ride brand new Yamaha R6s being prepared at FW Developments by team technician Will Robinson. Coghlan replaces Jack Kennedy who has moved to the Mar-Train team.
"The announcement of Jack’s departure generated a great deal of interest from a number of riders. For 2012 Team Appleyard Macadam will be receiving some greatly appreciated support from the Doodson Insurance Group and are also pleased to retain long standing supporters including Yamaha and Express Forklift services," said a team spokesman.
GP125 rider Ryan Watson will remain with the team for a second year and once again contest the two-stroke British Championship. 2011 was Ryan’s rookie year and even as one of the youngest riders in the class, he made an impressive start to his British Championship career by achieving three podium appearances and finishing seventh overall in this highly contested class.
