Swan Yamaha's Noriyuki Haga is set to race at next weekend's MCE British Superbike Showdown decider despite having a broken collarbone.
The former World Superbike star crashed heavily in free practice at Cadwell Park and the nature of the injury - its proximity to the shoulder - means an operation to fix it is out of the question. But team boss Shaun Muir says that Haga will be in action at the Leicestershire track.
"I'm confident that Noriyuki will be able to ride. It's going to be pretty painful but he has been resting, and will continue to rest, since Cadwell at his Italy home," said Muir, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"He hasn't been able to have any treatment as there isn't any to have, so we will have to make sure he is as comfortable as possible on the bike. It's his chance to get into the top six and it is a track he knows well so I think he is in with a shot."
