Quay Garage Honda's Gary Mason says he is over the moon after winning the British Superbike Cup title at Croft yesterday despite having virtually no brakes in the opening leg.
The Lichfield-based rider, who came into his team halfway through last season, has been a class-act all year riding a bike that was first used by the Stobart Honda squad just before the dinosaurs expired.
"I am over the moon to be honest. It means so much to the team and to me. We've worked so hard all year to make this happen and all the boys deserve it," said Mason, speaking to bikesportnews.com this morning.
"I had to put in some new pads after the first race because I had didn't have any brake power at all but in the second one, I was able to run consistent 1'21 laps and the results showed."
