CROFT BSB: WILSON AFTER MORE POINTS THIS WEEKEND

Fresh from his successful weekend at Cadwell, Ben Wilson travels to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for round 10 of the Bennetts British Superbike championship where he is to contest both the Metzeler National Superstock race and a round of the Henderson R1 Cup on Sunday, September 14.

Following his fifth place finish at Cadwell Wilson is currently placed at eighth in the rider standings after nine of 12 rounds of the National Superstock championship and will be looking for a strong result from Croft to move him further up the points table.

With this in mind, Wilson took part in a pre-race test at Croft last Wednesday where he put the Ben-Wilson-Racing Yamaha R1 through its paces to gain track knowledge ahead of Sunday’s event.

Although the test began well for the Boston rider, the weather closed in after the first session making further participation pointless.

“We did get some quick laps in and were on a par with the front runners so I am happy with the way things were progressing,” said Wilson. “But then it started to rain really heavily and it was not worth risking it to go out in those conditions so, like most other riders, we packed the truck and began the journey home.”

Going into the final three rounds, Wilson is leading the Autumn Cup section of the Henderson R1 Cup and is holding the runner-up spot in the main championship with a comfortable 31-point advantage over Sam Warren. Jon Kirkham is leading the main championship but with 75 points still up for grabs and Wilson being only 23 points behind the championship is by no means settled.
