MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews reckons is ecstatic with his fourth place in today's British Superbike qualifying at Donington Park as it is his debut front-row start in the class.
The Evesham man was narrowly beaten into fifth last time out at Oulton Park and was sitting pretty in third place this afternoon until Airwaves Yamaha's James Ellison went just a tenth of the second quicker.
"It's an awesome feeling to be on the front row for the first time. I'm ecstatic because the team has worked so hard to get here and it is all finally coming together," said Andrews, talking to bikesportnews.com this evening.
"We have been working on chassis setup since we got here and just making a few tweaks here and there to find a bit more pace through each session. The bike is fast enough and now we have the handling package as well."
Andrews' personal manager Charlie Aitchison added: "I saw that Julien had gone faster than Simon all weekend, so I told him that and he immediately went out and got into the 1'31s."
