Donington BSB: Bridewell secures final Showdown spot

West Country swearbox Tommy Bridewell rode to an impressive fourth place in yesterday's second MCE British Superbike race at Donington Park and secured himself a shot at this year's title as part of the much-maligned Showdown system.

The Supersonic BMW man, who was drafted in as a last-ditch replacement when Anthony West decided a uncompetitive Moto2 ride was much better, has put his rostrum or hospital days behind him, and turned in consistent performances to rack up the points.

"This was an up and down weekend again but we managed to get it good in the end and secure a place in the Showdown as well as BMW's best result for fourth so it's really good in the end. I look forward to Assen, hope we can build on it and see where we can get from there," said the strawberry blonde rider.

"I would like to thank the whole team for the excellent work they have been doing throughout the whole season - Stefano, Alessandro, Saverio and Andy for preparing a great bike for every race thanks to their experience and for their professional attitude. Also Danilo for giving me the opportunity to ride for this fantastic team. It has been an unforgettable season for me."
