PBM Kawasaki’s Stuart Easton had two contrasting races during the MCE British Superbike double header at Donington Park today. The Scottish rider made up for a disappointing race one, to bag the third step on the rostrum in the final outing.
He was not the only PBM bike on the podium, as his team-mate Shane Byrne nabbed the top spot from Honda Racing’s Dan Linfoot, but Easton still managed to match their pace to secure his first podium credit.
Easton overcame his earlier ‘silly mistake’ in the opening race of the season after he ran wide, missing out on valuable points, but he's glad he's completed the first race meeting of the year. He will now concentrate on building towards the next round at the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, but is under no illusions just how competitive the racing, and even qualifying will be.
“I wasn’t in the position to challenge properly I had a couple of little looks but I was losing a bit off Goddards and the Esses but I was able to run the pace - and it was what it was and I got a podium. Race one which was a complete disaster as I made a stupid mistake and ran off the track. But I have now got a podium and got the first round under my belt," said Easton at the track.
“I have got one podium credit now as that is what we need and podiums are my aim so I am happy with that – and hopefully I can build on that, and myself. I am looking forward to Brands in a couple of weeks. I like Brands as it is a good little circuit but I think it will be hectic in qualifying and it is going to be a tough one, as the times here have been really close so I need to get a good qualifying - we did that this weekend and came away with a podium.”
