Donington BSB: First Superpole of the season for front-rower Ellison

JG Speedfit Kawasaki's James Ellison made it into the MCE British Superbike Superpole for the first time this season, and the Showdown rider did not hold back as he made it all the way to the front row of the grid for race one on Sunday.

The Cumbrian lapped a 1'28.766 which placed his ZX-10R P3 during the final qualifying session, and he was only five tenths shy off the best lap of his team-mate, and fellow title challenger Leon Haslam,  who bagged pole.

Ellison made it on to the podium during the last round at Oulton Park and wants to prove that the bike is not a 'flash in the pan', and still has winning the championship crown as his ultimate goal.

"I had a to really push on the out lap (in Superpole) and when I was out of Coppice I felt the tyres were really warm and so I had a lot of confidence in the final part of the circuit," said Ellison at the track.

"I asked a little bit too much of the rear tyre and I pulled a little bit back. I am happy to be on the front row and I gave it everything I got.

"I am just happy to be at the front again and that Oulton was not a flash in the pan. We have made a step forward with the bike and I have every faith in the team that we can fight for the championship."
