Honda Racing's Dan Linfoot has credited a change of tyre choice from the SC1 front in race one, to the harder SC2 in the final race as 'transforming' his Fireblade, and enabling him to improve his pace to make it on to the podium, in the final MCE British Superbike race at Donington.
Linfoot ended race one in seventh, but the harder front Pirelli tyre in race two improved his machine, and he was able to better his braking into corners and was able to lap a consistent pace to hold on to bag second, ahead of Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon.
With a solid points haul the Northerner is now up to third in the championship standings on 540 points, and is now only 53 points off the new series leader, Be Wiser Ducati's Shane Byrne in the overall standings.
"I will take second place and it is nice to be back on the podium. I had a bit of a lull in the middle of the season for what reason I don't know," said Linfoot, speaking after coming off the podium.
"I still felt to be pushing at my maximum, maybe too hard - maybe riding the wrong way. Race one this morning I got bunged in the first corner and I came back through to seventh.
"We made a change in race two with the front tyre and transformed the bike to be honest. I was able to brakein a much better way into corners and my lap time was better, and hopefully we can take this form going into the next round."
