Donington BSB: Mossey confident he 'has the pace' to be competitive

JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Luke Mossey is feeling confident ahead of the first MCE British Superbike race of the season, and believes he has ‘the pace’ to be competitive at Donington Park on Sunday.

The young-gun had a strong pre-season test in Spain and was able to up his game and the speed of his ZX-10R. His time from the second free practice session, of a 1’29.455 meant that he stayed second fastest in the overall FP times, and will start from second on the grid for race one.

Pole position went to his team-mate, Leon Haslam who went one tenth quicker, but their solid form means that there will be two JG Speedfit bikes on row one tomorrow, and Mossey hopes the weather will be favourable, and not wet like it was in the final free practice session this morning.

“We had such a good test in Spain it was nice to be inside the top five yesterday, just to show that we followed our speed over from our pre-season testing,” said Mossey at the circuit.

“I was really fired up for [qualifying] then so it is a bit disappointing, but due to the circumstances we could not go out in qualifying.

“I feel we have the pace to be up here on to the front row, so looking forward to the races tomorrow and the weather looks like it will be nice again like yesterday and looking forward to digging deep and getting into a race simulation.”
