Donington BSB: Ray takes fourth Motostar victory

SP125/ FAB-Racing’s Bradley Ray eased his way to a fourth Monster Energy Motostar victory of the year in only his fourth finish.

The Red Bull Rookie had a poor start from pole position but moved into the lead after bravely passing both Catherine Green and Jordan Weaving at the high speed left-hander of Schwantz. Ray then pulled out a five second advantage to take the win in comfortable fashion.

Catherine Green followed on from her historical win at Cadwell Park by taking second. Green got the better of Jordan Weaving and then posted a new lap record to make sure of her podium finish.

FPW’s Luke Hedger helped his title aspirations by taking fourth, with his closest rival Joe Francis crashing on the brakes into the Foggy Esses immediately after getting the better of the Championship leader on the last lap.

Leaving Donington Park Hedger’s Championship lead has been extended out to 42 points over Ray, who will be absent from Silverstone due to Red Bull Rookie commitments.

Tarran Mackenzie brought his Redline KTM through to fifth place after his early battle with Kyle Ryde ended in the reigning champion’s Moto3 machine breaking down.

Joe Iriving was able to hold off both Callum Bey and Harry Hartley to take sixth with Australian rookie Olly Simpson closely following the trio in ninth. Sandbach Scrap Metal’s Phillip Wakefield rounded out the top ten.
