Donington BSB: ‘Still a long way to go’ for Easton

Mar-Train Yamaha’s Stuart Easton returned to the top of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship table after taking a race two victory and new lap record for the Donington Park circuit, but the Scottish rider is not getting overly confident, as his insists there is still a long way to go before he can even think of winning the championship.

Before the races at the weekend the Hawick lad was trailing Gearlink Kawasaki’s Alastair Seeley by 22 points, but second place in Saturday’s race and reaching the top step of the podium in race two means Easton now leads rival Seeley by eight points.

“It is good to get the championship lead with three rounds to go; there are still six races left, so there is still a long way to go. The next two tracks are quite flowing and fast and should suit our bike as our top end is good. We just have to take it a race at a time, especially in this class,” said Easton, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

“I would not say I was confident going into the race on Sunday but I knew what I had to do and I knew I was capable of the win. I am better when I get into a race as I am nervous before but once I get going I am fine, but I knew what I had to do, and thankfully I won.”
